September is National Attendance Awareness Month, and School District U-46 is excited to kick off the school year with our Every Minute Matters campaign, centered on this year's theme: First Day, Every Day. To celebrate Attendance Awareness Month, all U-46 schools will participate in our first annual Districtwide Grade-Level Attendance Challenge! Throughout September, each grade level's weekly attendance will be tracked to see which grade level earns the highest attendance across the district. The challenge culminates in the recognition and celebration of U-46's top-performing grade level.

The Village of Bartlett honored the administration, staff, and students of Hawk Hollow Middle School with the "Community Spirit Award" in recognition of its outstanding commitment to fostering a welcoming, engaged, and compassionate school community. The award spotlighted that Hawk Hollow, formerly an elementary school, re-opened as a middle school for the 2025-26 school year. "In its very first year, the administration and staff worked tirelessly to create meaningful opportunities for students to connect, participate, and succeed.
Their dedication extends beyond the classroom through school activities, community involvement, and service projects," the honor read. "Hawk Hollow’s commitment to building character, encouraging service, and creating a true sense of belonging makes them a deserving recipient of this year’s Community Spirit Award." Principal Lisa Olsem accepted the honor on behalf of the school.
